Townships served as one of the first forms of local government in Minnesota.
Some of the primary responsibilities of the township board include maintenance of town roads, ditch mowing and spraying, Planning and Zoning - even setting the gopher bounty!
The Hawley Township is also a member of the Hawley Area Fire District for fire protection and contribute to HERT for emergency medical care.
The Hawley Township adopted balloting by mail only, except for the local Township Election, on March 13, 2018. If you are are an eligible voter, but not registered, you can register online or contact the Clay County Auditor Office at 218-299-5006.
