HAWLEY Twp AGENDA 7 April, 2026 (rtf)

Dear Hawley Township Resident,
DUST CONTROL: It is time for dust control application. At our March meeting the Hawley Town Board approved setting the dust control reimbursement fee at 50% of cost of application.
This reimbursement is for township roads only. The resident is responsible for paying the entire bill and then submitting a copy of the invoice and proof of payment to the township for the 50% reimbursement. You can mail these to PO Box 471, Hawley, MN 56549 or email hawleytownshipclerk@gmail.com. The town board reserves the right to perform maintenance on the township roads, including applying gravel, as it sees fit.
RURAL WATER DISTRICT: You have recently received a mailing from the County about Clay County joining Norman & Polk County to establish a rural water district. This is a response to some of the questions that the board has received from some residents.
The County Commissioner sees this as a cost effective way to deal with rural residents’ concerns about the high levels of Arsenic and Manganese that occur naturally in the well water in Clay County. It also addresses the aging water infrastructure that is in the smaller communities of Clay County with no funds available to improve it.
Except for the initial start up money, the district is to be self-funded. District funding will come from the user fees, much like how your electricity is supplied and paid for.
If you have further interest and you have thrown the county information away, we have included the QR code.

ELECTIONS: A reminder to all and information for our new residents: this is an election year, and Hawley Township is a mail-only ballot precinct except for the township elections. Ballots are mailed to the home address of all registered voters. See the township website for information to register. If you miss registering, and do not receive a ballot, you still have the opportunity to vote in person by going to the county auditor's office.
